Bolsa Chica Wetlands - Summer Day Programs 2021
Explore and Discover the Wetlands this Summer!
Exciting discoveries await your budding, young scientist this summer at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. Join the Bolsa Chica Conservancy on a journey of scientific adventure as we travel beyond the classroom to explore the local, native wilderness during this week-long day program. Young scientists will find themselves in immersive outdoor activities, experiments, science-based crafts, and science exploration that stimulate wonder and critical thinking at the same time! Scientists going into grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade can join us during the first week of the program (05 July - 09 July 2021) and scientists going into grades 4th through 7th can join us during the second week of the program (12 July - 16 July 2021). All participating scientists will get to experience the wetlands inside and out in a fun and educational week full of learning and discovery.
*The Bolsa Chica Conservancy is committed to providing access and education to all, and the suggested donation is in no way required, but is greatly appreciated.*
Junior Summer Wetland Explorers Program (05 July - 09 July 2021)
NOTE: Registration for the Junior Summer Wetland Explorers Program is currently full, but a waitlist is available. Please contact Whitney Thompson at firstname.lastname@example.org or (714)846-1114 to be added to the waitlist. Kick off the summer season with a week of science and fun in the sun! Junior Wetland Explorers will learn about habitats, wetlands, watersheds, ecosystem components, food webs, and recycling through guided hikes of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, hands-on science labs, STEM-based activities and crafts, and supplemental education videos. Every day brings new discoveries on the trail, and Junior Wetland Explorers will record all their findings in their wetland science journal.
Please note that Wednesday (07 July) will be partially spent at the Bolsa Chica State Beach, where Junior Wetland Explorers will learn about the wetland's neighboring habitat - the ocean. Make sure to bring a towel and change of clothes - after all, what's a beach trip without getting your toes wet!
Senior Summer Wetland Explorers Program (12 July - 16 July 2021)
Senior Wetland Explorers will dive and dig through Bolsa Chica to discover its hidden secrets. With guided hikes through Bolsa Chica's many trails, engaging science labs, hands-on field activities and crafts, and supplemental education videos, Senior Wetland Explorers will unearth the secrets of wetlands, watersheds, coastal ecology, food webs, geology, and pollution solutions.
Please note that Wednesday (14 July) will be partially spent at the Bolsa Chica State Beach, where Senior Wetland Explorers will learn about the wetland's neighboring habitat and studying their differences. Make sure to bring a towel and change of clothes - after all, what's a beach trip without getting your toes wet?!
