Research

The Bolsa Chica Conservancy offers programs in the efforts of researching and understanding the natural environment, and how it impacts us. See our listing of programs here:

Eyes On Nest Sites (EONS)

Each spring/summer, the endangered California Least Tern migrates to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve to nest. Our EONS program enlists eager birders (even aspiring birders) to track the nesting activity of the Least Tern and provide data for Ornithological research.

Bird Surveys

The California Least Terns aren’t the only birds we monitor the populations of. Join our bird count team on bi-weekly expeditions to spot and record the various birds that inhabit the wetlands ecosystem.

Water Quality Monitoring

The Conservancy has overseen water quality monitoring at various locations around the reserve since 1994. This monitoring has been conducted within several programs including our Citizen Water Monitoring Program, our Wetland Research Program, and our education programs.
